2015 CE Announcement

September 6th, 2014

We are pleased to announce that registration for the 2015 Classical Literacy Exam and Classical Scholar’s Exam is now open.

Quid novi?

1. A new web address: classicalexams.org (though the old abqlatin.org will also work for a time).

2. This year you will now register online for the exams.

3. Though little has changed, you will find on the website updated descriptions of the exams and an updated list of terms.

4. All exam materials this year will be posted on our website. Prior to the time for taking the exams, teachers will receive a password that will enable them to download exams and answers. We are also developing a system to report results online.

5. We are beginning a dictionary project that will provide essential definitions for all the terms on the list. Please let us know if you would like to participate in this project. As small step towards this goal, soon we will post a student-produced dictionary of most but not all of the Level II terms.

While this current version is not complete or authoritative, we believe it will be helpful to your students. It may also serve as a model for your own students. Making such a dictionary as a class project is an excellent way to prepare for the exams.

6. We are establishing a five-member Advisory Board to be chaired by Joseph Malone who has served previously as Chair of the CLE and has been, from the beginning, our webmaster and invaluable consultant.

It would be very much appreciated if you could spread the good word about these exams. If you are so minded as to provide us with a short testimonial that we could post on our website, we would be very grateful.

If you have any questions, email us at clechair@classicalexams.org. You may also contact Mr. Himwich directly at Himwich@aa.edu (210.216.5778)

Website Revamp

September 1st, 2014

We have recently renovated our website. We are now “Classical Exams” instead of “ABQ. Latin.” Not much else is different after this change. This website will continue to host the Classical Literacy Exam and the Classical Scholar’s Exam. The old addresses (abqlatin.org / abqlatin.com) will continue to work for a time. Our new locations are classicalexams.org and classicalexams.com. We have also added the materials from 2014 for both the CLE and CSE. Please let us know if you have questions.
